Poliția turcă a arestat peste 160 de persoane din mediul LGBTQ+

Over 160 individuals were arrested in Turkey during police raids targeting LGBTQ+ businesses and associations as part of a government operation aimed at promoting traditional values. The Justice Minister stated that these actions were based on allegations of prostitution and obscenity, affecting nine associations and 13 companies across 15 provinces. President Erdoğan has intensified pressure on the LGBTQ+ community, labeling them as 'perverse' and linking them to declining birth rates. Although same-sex relationships are not illegal, homophobia is prevalent, and pride events have been banned since 2015. Human rights organizations accuse the government of using family campaigns to further target LGBTQ+ individuals, including blocking access to numerous websites and social media accounts related to LGBTQ+ activism.
