In the first half of 2026, Romanian police seized over 81,000 driving licenses and issued more than 1.18 million traffic fines. Over 12,000 drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol. The report highlights a total of 1,679 serious traffic accidents, resulting in 492 fatalities. Compared to 2025, accidents decreased by 1.8%, while fatalities dropped by 10.1%. Key causes of accidents included pedestrian indiscipline and speeding.
