The deadline for completing milestones in the PNRR expires on August 31, with none of the five major railway lots fully finished. Authorities claim financial targets were met, but work will continue with funds from the Transport Program. The Transport Program 2021-2027 will finance remaining works after PNRR closure. Delays are significant, especially for the Poieni–Aleșd lot, which is only 36% physically complete. Other lots show varying progress, with Timișoara Est–Lugoj being the most advanced. Train services are set to resume in stages, but direct connections between Oradea and Cluj-Napoca will remain disrupted until 2029.
