Bucharest's Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard area will undergo redevelopment through an international design competition, as announced by the city hall. The project aims to enhance pedestrian zones, promote walking and cycling, and improve green spaces. A historical study will be conducted to guide the design competition, which will be organized in collaboration with the Romanian Architects' Order. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the need to revitalize the area, which he described as unattractive and polluted, aiming to restore its commercial and cultural appeal.
