The Bucharest City Hall has urgently convened construction companies and utility operators to develop measures for traffic management as the new school year begins. Currently, 63 construction sites are active in the city, with 35 directly impacting traffic on 30 roads and affecting 45 critical intersections. The situation is particularly concerning near educational institutions, with 230 schools and kindergartens located within 500 meters of construction areas. Authorities plan to implement various interventions, including police presence at affected intersections and ensuring safe pedestrian access at construction sites. The mayor has requested utility operators to postpone non-urgent works to minimize traffic disruption during the school season.
