The PMB has announced a complete ban on rental scooters in Bucharest's parks and during street events. Previously, scooters could only travel at a maximum speed of 5 km/h in these areas, but now they will be entirely restricted. This decision follows discussions with major scooter operators and local police, with Lime already implementing similar restrictions in several parks. The ban is enforced through geofencing technology, which uses GPS to create virtual boundaries that automatically limit scooter usage. Issues such as abandoned scooters, high speeds on pedestrian paths, and safety concerns have prompted this action.
