The Neptun Alpha production platform has been successfully installed in the Black Sea, marking a significant milestone for the Neptun Deep gas project. This strategic initiative, involving OMV Petrom and Romgaz, represents a €4 billion investment and aims to produce approximately 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, with production expected to start in 2027. The platform, weighing over 16,500 tons and measuring over 225 meters, was installed using the Saipem 7000 vessel. The project includes 10 wells and various underwater infrastructure, contributing to Romania's energy security and reducing dependence on imports.
