All EU member states submitted their final payment requests under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism by the September 30, 2026 deadline. These requests follow the implementation period ending on August 31, 2026, during which countries had to meet their national recovery milestones. The total amount requested includes €360 billion in grants and €213 billion in loans. The mechanism, part of NextGenerationEU, has supported reforms and investments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic challenges. Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that these requests reflect five years of collective efforts and solidarity among EU nations.
