Journalist Radu Constantin filed the complaint, citing irregularities in the authorities' response. Lațcău reportedly did not call the police after the incident and signed an amiable agreement with the tram driver instead. Concerns were raised about the legitimacy of Lațcău's use of a municipal vehicle and the lack of police investigation. The accident occurred on September 30, just before Lațcău's inauguration. The police stated they received no emergency call regarding the incident, and the tram company claimed to have no footage despite having onboard cameras.
