Romania's Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, discussed the uncertainty surrounding the recovery of funds related to the unified salary reform. He mentioned that the government is seeking clarifications from the European Commission to potentially recognize efforts made before the August 31 deadline. While he noted that full recovery of the 770 million euro penalty is unlikely, there is hope to reduce it if the salary law is adopted by the end of October. Pîslaru emphasized that the law must meet commitments made under the PNRR and that political reasons have delayed its adoption. He remains optimistic about recovering some funds, estimating that even a small amount could significantly benefit Romania's investment financing.
