Piperea avertizează că România poate pierde fonduri UE

Gheorghe Piperea, an AUR MEP, criticized USR's initiative to alert EU institutions about Romania's rule of law, warning of potential financial repercussions. He noted that a resolution concerning Romania was rejected in the LIBE committee but remains a concern as it was forwarded to the European Commission. Piperea emphasized that any adverse EU decision could jeopardize significant funding, including 770 million euros from the PNRR and future EU budgets. He argued that the contested amendment should be respected despite being a mistake, and any changes would require new legislation, which may not benefit the current situation. He condemned USR's actions as harmful to Romania's interests.
