Octavian Ciovică, a mountain speed racing champion, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for influence peddling and blackmail. The court reduced his initial sentences after an appeal. Ciovică demanded money from an entrepreneur to facilitate a business permit. He previously served as a local councilor in Brașov and was a vice-president of the local PNL organization.
