The Buzău Water Company has successfully reduced water losses in its distribution system by 13% through the installation of noise loggers. These smart acoustic sensors help detect hidden leaks, aiming for a 20% reduction by 2030. The initiative began in 2026, with over 3,500 loggers planned for installation across the region. The technology allows for quicker identification of leaks by monitoring sounds and vibrations in the pipes, significantly improving the efficiency of leak detection compared to previous manual methods. Currently, the monitoring covers several areas including Buzău city and surrounding regions.
