Pierderi în oieritul românesc. Cât costă blocarea exporturilor și ce soluție propun specialiștii. „Nu avem noi oi câte vor ei”
Romanian sheep farmers face significant losses due to export restrictions caused by the spread of small ruminant plague. The first outbreak was confirmed in July 2024, leading to a ban on exports that has been extended until December 2026. This situation has severely impacted the sheep farming sector, with estimated losses exceeding 150 million euros. The decline in sheep numbers is concerning, with a 12% drop since 2022. Many farmers are struggling financially, and younger generations show little interest in sheep farming. Experts criticize the authorities for not taking effective measures to control the disease's spread, which has led to the current crisis. The European Commission has acknowledged a plan for action to gradually resume exports, contingent on vaccination and other measures being implemented.
