The Romanian new car market saw a decline in September 2026, with 10,952 vehicles registered, an 11% drop from the previous year. However, the segment of electrified vehicles grew by 16%. Notably, the Chinese brand BYD climbed to fourth place in the rankings, surpassing Volkswagen. Dacia maintained its lead with 2,705 units, followed by Toyota and Skoda. The overall market remains down by about 10% for the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
