In July 2026, new car registrations in Romania dropped by 28.2% compared to the previous year, totaling 11,633 units. However, the market for electrified vehicles continued to grow, with electric cars increasing by 57% and plug-in hybrids by 71%. Despite an overall decline in new car registrations, electrified vehicles now account for 60% of the market. The analysis by APIA highlights the need for a stable regulatory framework to support long-term growth in the automotive sector.
