The Romanian auto market has experienced a significant downturn, with vehicle sales dropping nearly 18% in July 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. For the first seven months of the year, the decline stands at 2.4%. The National Institute of Statistics (INS) reported a 17.9% decrease in July's revenue from vehicle sales. This downturn marks a notable deterioration during the summer, following a less severe trend earlier in the year. Adjusted figures indicate a 1.3% decline in the first half of 2026. Compared to June 2026, July saw a 7.6% drop in sales revenue, with a more pronounced decline of 15.4% when compared to July 2025.
