Piața auto din România scade cu 10,5% în 2026

New car registrations in Romania fell by 10.5% in the first nine months of 2026, totaling 96,261 units. September saw an 11.5% decline, although electrified vehicles gained market share. Dacia remains the top brand, despite a 36.1% drop in sales. Toyota and Skoda follow in the rankings. BYD experienced significant growth, ranking fourth in September with a 532% increase. Electrified cars accounted for 64% of new registrations in September, with plug-in hybrids seeing a 131% rise. Gasoline and diesel car registrations dropped significantly, while the market for commercial vehicles also declined. APIA's president emphasized the need for predictable vehicle renewal programs and policies supporting low-emission cars.
