Piața asigurărilor din România a ajuns la 14,2 miliarde de lei în primul semestru

The Romanian insurance market reached a total underwriting volume of approximately 14.2 billion lei in the first half of 2026, marking a 15% increase from the previous year. About 78% of this volume came from general insurance premiums. The market growth was driven by both authorized companies and branches, with a notable 31% increase in branch premiums. The total premiums for RCA auto liability insurance reached around 6 billion lei, up 17% year-on-year. The average RCA premium for cars rose to 2,093 lei, influenced by rising damage costs and inflation. Total gross indemnities paid reached about 6.7 billion lei, a 16% increase from the previous year. Technical reserves amounted to approximately 30 billion lei, reflecting a 24% growth. The combined loss ratio for general insurance was around 93.4%, indicating a challenging environment for insurers, especially in the RCA segment where it exceeded 100%.
