Over 1.04 million Romanians celebrate their name day today, honoring Saint Alexander, the Patriarch of Constantinople. This day marks a significant occasion for many, as it commemorates the saint's contributions to Christianity during the First Council of Nicaea. Among those celebrating, 601,997 are men and 438,254 are women, with 'Alexandru' being the most common male name. Saint Alexander, born in 239 in Calabria, became a key defender of Christian faith against heresies and was appointed Patriarch after the death of Saint Mitrophan. He passed away in 337 at the age of 98, leaving a lasting legacy in the Church.
