Peste 50 de urși din județul Sibiu ar putea fi împușcați. Șeful Direcției Silvice: „Cota putea fi mai mare”
Over 50 bears are set to be harvested in Sibiu County based on new quotas approved for 2026 and 2027. This decision follows the promulgation of a law that doubles the bear hunting quota and modifies intervention rules for attacks. Nationally, the prevention quota is 859 bears and the intervention quota is 110 bears per year, totaling 969 bears that can be harvested annually. The quotas in Sibiu are distributed across various hunting grounds. Ilie Troancă, director of the Sibiu Forestry Directorate, emphasizes the importance of implementing these measures before bears hibernate. He notes that the bear population in Romania remains high and that the effects of the harvesting quotas should be monitored over time. The new law establishes separate quotas for prevention and intervention, with a total of 969 bears allowed to be harvested in the specified years.
