Peste 400 de pisici, salvate din mâinile traficanților de animale. Ce soartă li se pregătea? • Newsweek România

Over 400 cats were rescued from a trafficking network in Vietnam, where they were intended for consumption. Authorities arrested nine individuals linked to the illegal operation. The cats were found alive and dead during police raids in Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province. While the consumption of cat and dog meat is legal in Vietnam, sellers must prove the animals' origin. The Humane World for Animals organization reported that some rescued cats have been reunited with their owners, but many suffered during their ordeal. Investigations are ongoing, and locals are encouraged to report stolen pets. Annually, millions of dogs and cats are captured and trafficked for meat in Vietnam, although attitudes towards this practice are slowly changing.
