The Morii Lake Island in Bucharest attracted over 40,000 visitors during its reopening weekend at the West Side Sunset Fest. The festival featured concerts, children's activities, water sports, and relaxation areas. The island's modernization covers 3.4 hectares, with 2.3 hectares of green spaces, funded mainly by EU grants. The project includes new pathways, seating areas, playgrounds, and biodiversity enhancements like new trees and floating islands for wildlife. The reopening marks the first phase of a larger project to transform the Morii Lake area into a linear urban park of approximately 16.6 hectares.
