Peste 23 mii de locuitori din Transnistria muncesc în Republica Moldova, în creștere cu 66% față de anul trecut. Creșterea semnificativă indică decuplarea economiei transnistrene de Rusia

In the first half of 2026, over 23,000 individuals from the Transnistrian region were officially employed in Moldova, marking a 66.8% increase from the previous year. The estimated population of Transnistria is around 450,000, with official Moldovan records showing about 365,000 residents. The majority of employees are concentrated in Chișinău, with significant numbers from Bender, Tiraspol, and other cities. This employment rise is attributed to the economic crisis in Transnistria, where many companies face challenges due to disrupted financial flows and increased taxes. The ongoing war in Ukraine has also shifted trade towards Europe. Key employment sectors include retail, manufacturing, construction, and public services. This workforce trend aligns with Chișinău's goal of peacefully reintegrating Transnistrian residents into Moldova, crucial for EU accession negotiations.
