Over 100 veterinarians, supported by police, completed the first phase of inspections in Tulcea County after outbreaks of sheep and goat variola were confirmed. Major discrepancies were found between the National Database and actual numbers on the ground, with 7,003 fewer animals than recorded. The ANSVSA identified numerous irregularities, including nearly 1,500 unregistered animals and illegal sales. A fine of 40,000 lei was imposed, and further inspections will be conducted nationwide due to the identified deficiencies.
