The German Federal Motor Transport Authority has announced a recall of approximately 2.16 million Volkswagen vehicles and nearly 700,000 Audi cars due to a corrosion risk in the steering system. This issue could lead to a complete loss of steering control. Affected Volkswagen models include the Golf, Tiguan, and Caddy, while Audi's Q3 is also included. Although the risk is not immediate, owners are advised to schedule repairs for new, corrosion-resistant screws. This recall adds to the challenges faced by Volkswagen amid job cuts and competition from Chinese automakers in the electric vehicle market.
