Peste 1.700 de copii cu CES în școlile din Sibiu: marea problemă este cine îi sprijină

The number of students with special educational needs (SEN) in mainstream schools is increasing, but support teachers are decreasing. In some counties, one teacher manages over 100 students. In Mureș, a student with SEN receives an average of only 6 minutes of direct support per week from itinerant teachers. Nationally, there are 73,247 SEN students integrated into state education, with only 1,700 support teachers available. The average number of SEN students per support teacher has risen from 28 to 43, despite regulations stating a ratio of one teacher for every 12 students. The lack of support teachers hampers the system's ability to provide tailored interventions, leaving classroom teachers responsible for integration without adequate training or resources. The Ministry of Education is preparing new measures for inclusive education but has not specified how it will increase the number of specialists or adjust support teacher workloads.
