The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control noted a significant increase in cases recently, with 1,086 infections recorded in 15 countries by September 3. The virus primarily spreads through mosquitoes and can cause mild to severe illness in humans. Most infections are asymptomatic, but about 20% may develop flu-like symptoms, and severe cases can lead to long-term effects.
