The Bala 2 project on the Danube has a budget exceeding 1 billion lei and a 60-month implementation period. This strategic investment is essential for cooling the Cernavodă nuclear plant and ensuring navigation conditions on the river. The total investment, including VAT, is approximately 1,020,762,000 lei. The project includes 12 months for design and 48 months for construction, with a 36-month warranty period. The initiative, which aims to increase the Danube's water level at the Bala arm, has been updated after 17 years and is crucial due to the current energy alert status in Romania.
