Police and DIICOT prosecutors conducted 12 searches in Bucharest and surrounding counties related to EU sanctions violations. The investigation focuses on a vertical lathe valued at approximately €1.75 million, allegedly intended for transfer to intermediaries, with the final beneficiary linked to a Belarusian entity under EU sanctions. USR Dâmbovița vice president Alexandru Munteanu is reportedly involved and has arrived at DIICOT for questioning. The investigation also examines modifications to machinery that could enable military use, as well as attempts to disguise the final beneficiary through third-party companies. Prosecutors are pursuing charges against eight suspects for violating international sanctions enforcement laws.
