The European Public Prosecutor's Office conducted searches at a hospital and the council's headquarters as part of an investigation into suspected fraud involving medical equipment purchases. Allegations include artificially inflating the project budget and submitting fake price offers. The case was initially referred by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate, with support from OLAF and local law enforcement agencies.
