Pensionarul din România care a muncit 14 ani, dar primește 0 lei la pensie, în timp ce o persoană care nu a lucrat deloc încasează 500 lei
In Romania, individuals who have not completed the minimum contribution period of 15 years are ineligible for pensions, despite having worked and paid contributions. Instead, they may receive a minimum income support. Recently, pensioners' incomes have been declining, affecting their living standards. For instance, a pensioner with 14 years of work receives no pension, while those who have not worked receive a minimum of 500 lei. The lack of pension indexation for two years, coupled with rising prices for basic goods, has further diminished purchasing power. The guaranteed minimum pension is 1,281 lei, but those with less than 15 years of contribution cannot receive it. They can only obtain income through purchasing contribution years or by applying for minimum income support.
