Peiu, semnal de alarmă: Doar 4 din 10 români își permit o vacanță

Senator Petrișor Peiu highlights the challenges facing Romanian tourism and the financial struggles of its citizens. He notes that Romania has the lowest tourism intensity in the EU, with only 1.6 nights spent in accommodations per resident. Comparatively, Latvia and Poland have double this figure, while Hungary's is nearly three times higher. Peiu emphasizes that 89% of Romanian tourists travel domestically, yet internal tourism remains low relative to the population. He points out that 61.4% of Romanians cannot afford a week-long vacation annually, contrasting with 39% in Bulgaria and Hungary. Additionally, Romanians spent €6.6 billion on foreign travel in the first eight months of the year, significantly exceeding the spending by foreign tourists in Romania. These statistics raise concerns about vacation accessibility and the attractiveness of domestic destinations.
