The hermitage, historically significant and visited by tourists, has recently been altered with a modern wooden roof. Local officials claim they did not authorize the work, and a commission will assess the situation. The monk argues he intended to preserve the site, despite acknowledging he lacked permission. The area is known for its rock carvings and was designated a UNESCO site in April 2022.
