The energy prices have risen significantly, with some rates up by 30% compared to spring. The largest electricity supplier initiated these price hikes, which have been followed by others. Current prices on the ANRE comparator show increases, with some offers reaching 1.9 lei/kWh and even exceeding 2 lei/kWh. The situation is exacerbated by low water levels in the Danube affecting energy imports. The Ministry of Energy plans to extend the alert status for another 30 days as the Cernavoda reactors may not restart until mid-October.
