Paulina Cruceanu became Romania's first female pharmacist in 1891, breaking gender barriers in a male-dominated profession. Born in Iași in 1865, she faced significant challenges in her career, including societal resistance to women in pharmacy. Despite these obstacles, she worked in various hospitals and contributed to the field during World War I. Tragically, she died in 1921 after an accident involving a tram, just as she was about to receive a pharmacy concession. Her legacy paved the way for future female pharmacists in Romania, although her contributions were largely forgotten over time.
