Forty-eight people have died in Nigeria after consuming methanol-contaminated alcoholic beverages, with 182 others affected. The incidents occurred in Ondo state, linked to a local drink called 'Monkey Tail'. Fifteen individuals involved in the production and sale of this beverage have been arrested. Laboratory tests confirmed high levels of methanol and cannabis in the drinks. Some victims suffered severe health consequences, including complete and partial blindness.
