Patru cetățeni ruși au fost inculpați, până în prezent, pentru că au dobândit ilegal cetățenia română
Four Russian citizens have been indicted for illegally obtaining Romanian citizenship through fraudulent means, with around 300 individuals under investigation. The General Prosecutor's Office has uncovered a network involving complicity from civil registry officials, allowing Russians, Ukrainians, and Moldovans to acquire Romanian documents for EU travel. Key figures include Alexandr Strelnikov, Denis Khaibulkin, and Andrey A. Tabakov, who used fake documents to obtain Romanian identity papers. Another suspect, Vasilii Ilichev, has admitted guilt and accepted a plea deal. The investigation highlights significant bureaucratic vulnerabilities that facilitated these illegal activities, raising national security concerns.
