Patriarhia Română reacționează la inițiativa AUR privind Ziua Drapelului: Denotă o necunoaștere a rolului și importanței slujirii clericale

Adrian Agachi, spokesperson for the Romanian Patriarchy, criticized the AUR initiative regarding the National Flag Day, stating it was developed without prior consultation with the Church. He emphasized the importance of involving the Patriarchy in legislative projects related to religious acts. Agachi expressed concerns over the proposal allowing non-clerics to bless the flag, arguing it undermines the role of the clergy. The Patriarchy plans to submit amendments to the bill, particularly regarding the prayer text and the involvement of laypersons in blessings. The AUR bill, adopted by the Senate, includes penalties for officials and media regarding the observance of the National Flag Day.
