TAROM's first Boeing 737 MAX successfully completed its initial ground tests and flight on July 23, 2026, moving from Renton to Boeing Field. The aircraft will be painted in TAROM's livery and is expected in Bucharest by late August 2026. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is increasingly popular among airlines, despite its controversial history due to two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019, leading to a 20-month grounding. Significant software modifications and crew training changes allowed its return to service, and Boeing settled a lawsuit regarding safety oversight for $237.5 million in November 2021.
