The Hungarian Parliament has established the National Office for Asset Recovery and Protection, aimed at investigating public fund misuse and recovering lost assets. This initiative was a key electoral promise of the Tisza Party, led by Prime Minister Peter Magyar. The office will have extensive powers to scrutinize public asset management and can initiate legal proceedings based on its findings. The leadership will be elected by Parliament and will operate independently from the executive branch. Magyar emphasized the need for this office to restore public trust and address systemic abuses from previous administrations.
