Parlamentul European le cere statelor UE accelerarea conectării Europei prin transport feroviar de mare viteză
The European Parliament has called for faster implementation of high-speed rail connections across Europe, aiming to link all EU capitals. Romanian MEPs emphasized the need for trains to travel at speeds of at least 250 km/h, with projects expected to be completed by 2040. Romania has already conducted studies for routes to Budapest and Sofia, and a partnership agreement was signed with Greece and Bulgaria for further infrastructure development. The goal is to reduce travel times and enhance competitiveness in the rail sector, while also addressing fiscal equity between rail and air travel. Investments of around 340-350 billion euros are projected to achieve these objectives by 2040.
