Parlamentul European cere sancţiuni împotriva celor responsabili pentru încălcările drepturilor omului în Hong Kong

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution calling for sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in Hong Kong following the sentencing of three activists. Lee Cheuk-yan, Chow Hang-tung, and Albert Ho received prison sentences for inciting subversion after a trial criticized by the UN. Public commemorations of the Tiananmen Square victims have been effectively banned in Hong Kong since the 2020 national security law was imposed. The resolution urges the EU to impose immediate sanctions on Hong Kong and Chinese officials and to suspend Hong Kong's status in the WTO. It also calls for the release of the activists and the repeal of the security law, emphasizing the need for freedom of expression and rule of law in Hong Kong.
