Parlamentarii decid astăzi dacă minorii de 12 și 13 ani pot răspunde penal pentru omor. Proiectul de lege, propus spre respingere
Today, Romanian lawmakers are set to reject a bill that would allow minors aged 12 to 14 to be held criminally responsible for murder. This comes amid rising youth violence, highlighted by a recent incident where a student attacked a teacher and a classmate with a knife but was released after psychological evaluation. The proposed legislation aimed to lower the minimum age for criminal responsibility from 14 to 12 for murder cases, contingent on proving the minor's discernment at the time of the act. Currently, minors under 14 cannot face criminal charges regardless of the crime's severity. The bill has already received a rejection report, and if the parliament votes against it, the existing law will remain unchanged, keeping the age limit at 14.
