Parchetul European, sub conducerea Codruței Kovesi, a dat în judecată cinci români, acuzați de fraudă cu fonduri UE

The European Public Prosecutor's Office has charged five individuals for forming a criminal group to defraud public procurement procedures in Romania, allegedly stealing 1.8 million euros from EU funds. The accused, active from 2017 to 2022, targeted rural localities in Dolj County, convincing them to apply for EU funding. They prepared fraudulent documentation and used false companies to secure contracts. The investigation revealed 22 fraudulent procurement procedures linked to seven EU-funded programs aimed at poverty alleviation. If convicted, the defendants face prison sentences ranging from three years to ten and a half years.
