The Vatican has not disclosed whether the nodule is benign or malignant. The Pope stated that the nodule was detected early and that doctors recommended surgical removal. The operation is scheduled to take place soon, with a recovery period of about a week expected. Despite this health concern, there are currently no changes to his official schedule, including an upcoming pastoral visit to South America.
