Papa Leon al XIV-lea suferă de cancer pulmonar. I-a fost extirpat lobul inferior al plămânului drept
Pope Leo XIV has been diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent successful surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung. The Vatican confirmed the operation went well without complications. The diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma was suspected during preoperative investigations and confirmed during surgery. The 71-year-old pontiff spent about three hours in the operating room, with the procedure lasting approximately 90 minutes. He has shown unusual transparency regarding his health issues, previously revealing a small lung nodule that led to the surgery. Oncologists assured that even if the nodule was cancerous, the prognosis remains excellent due to early-stage removal.
