Authorities have started releasing water from Mostiștea and Valea Argovei lakes to increase the Danube's water level, which is currently low. This action aims to support the operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. The release began on Friday night and continued on Saturday, with a target increase of 2 cm in the Danube. However, local farmers and fishers are concerned about potential water shortages due to ongoing drought conditions. Hydrologists predict that Danube levels will remain below long-term averages in the coming months, with significant reductions expected in various river basins across Romania.
