Lisbon has been named the best city destination in Europe at the 2026 World Travel Awards, also winning the title of best cruise destination. The awards were presented on October 17 in Montenegro, marking the first time the country hosted the event. The Lisbon Tourism Association highlights the city's unique identity and diverse experiences for visitors. Director António Valle views the awards as recognition of collective efforts to enhance tourism offerings and support the local economy. Lisbon previously won this title in 2017 and 2023, and was also recognized as the best city break destination in Europe last year.
