Ora oficială a lumii se schimbă radical. Ce se întâmplă cu ceasurile din mai 2027

Starting May 20, 2027, the world's official time will no longer be adjusted by adding leap seconds. This decision was made in Versailles due to changes in Earth's rotation speed, which raised the possibility of needing to subtract a second from official time for the first time. The resolution was adopted at the 28th conference meeting. Currently, time is measured using UTC, based on atomic clocks, and astronomical time, based on Earth's rotation. Since 1972, 27 leap seconds have been added to keep these two systems aligned. However, these adjustments have caused issues for computer systems and online services. The change will primarily affect astronomy, geodesy, and satellite applications, which will need to account for the growing discrepancy between clock time and Earth's rotation.
